We have to admit…we aren’t currently reading The Art of Client Service by Robert Solomon, but it is a book that we reference often.
This book is a common sense outline of tips on how to effectively and successfully deal with clients as a marketing or advertising professional. It breaks down 58 things every advertising & marketing professional should know. However, this book is a great read for anyone, in any industry, that interfaces with clients on any level.
From breaking down interpersonal relations to explaining the importance of brevity in a creative brief, this book presents these ideas in a very simple and digestible way.
One of my favorite points in the book speaks to the client relationships. Solomon posits that “a great relationship leads to great work”. While he states that most people (and at one time he himself) think that the production of great work makes for great working relationships, he states that truly cultivating trust is the way that great relationships, and thus great work is borne.
